Description
This approximately 100-square-foot mixed-media mosaic transforms the “Tunnel Vision” concrete façade at the under-road tunnel of the Tweety Bird Trailhead.
In her artist statement, Stevie Stevens notes that “Oz,” as in the Ozarks, has become a common theme throughout Northwest Arkansas. The mural represents the journey in search of OZ (the Emerald City) and the realization of finding the beauty in what is already here.
Key visual elements include:
- The Yellow Brick Road & Poppy Fields: Represented by the sweeping yellow and green sections leading toward the top of the tunnel, paying homage to The Wizard of Oz.
- The Emerald City: The flat, small area at the top of the tunnel features green towers accented with vertical mirrors, signifying the final destination.
